Smooth Streaming Starts Here

Troubleshooting Guide

Hey — these are the steps we recommend for anybody who wants to avoid buffering issues or slowdowns based on the internet service provider they have. Read close, follow these steps, and/or install a VPN for the most reliable experience.

Quick Fixes First

  1. Restart your modem and router

Unplug your modem and router for 60 seconds, then plug them back in and wait until all lights are solid. This refreshes your connection and clears temporary ISP throttling.
  2. Use a wired connection when possible

If your streaming device supports it, connect directly to your router with an Ethernet cable. Wi-Fi is convenient, but a wired connection is more stable for streaming.
  3. Close background apps and limit devices

Too many devices downloading, gaming, or video-calling at the same time can slow your stream. Pause heavy downloads while watching.

Install a VPN (Strongly Recommended)

Some internet providers slow down or block streaming traffic. A VPN hides your stream from your ISP and usually fixes buffering caused by throttling.

  • On your phone, download Proton Mail and create a free account.
  • Download Proton VPN on your streaming device (Fire Stick, Android TV, phone, etc.).
  • Sign in with your Proton Mail email and password.
  • Tap Quick Connect and leave it running in the background while streaming.

We recommend Proton VPN because it has a reliable free tier. Any trusted VPN will work — the goal is to keep your ISP from interfering with your stream.

Disable ISP Security / Filtering

Many providers automatically block streaming-related traffic with “security” or “advanced security” features. The exact steps depend on your provider. For detailed, up-to-date walkthroughs for Spectrum, T-Mobile, Xfinity, and others, visit:

Look for settings named “Security Shield,” “Advanced Security,” “Web Guard,” or “xFi Advanced Security” inside your ISP’s app or website and turn them off. Reboot your router afterward.

Still Having Issues?

If you have followed the steps above and still see buffering, open Dutch (bottom-right corner) and tell him what device you are using and what you see on the screen. You can also call or text Patrick directly.
